Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about service, scheduling, dogs, billing, and what to expect from The Scoop Troop.

Getting Started

7 answers
What does The Scoop Troop do?
We provide professional dog waste removal for homes, HOAs, apartment communities, dog parks, and commercial properties. We also offer pet-waste station services, deodorizing treatments, and sanitizing treatments.
How often can my property be serviced?
Recurring service is available twice weekly, weekly, every other week, or monthly. We also offer one-time cleanups based on location, property conditions, and scheduling availability.
How much does service cost?
Pricing is based on factors such as service frequency, number of dogs, service-area size and layout, yard surface, and selected add-ons. Get your instant estimate for recurring residential service. Your final service plan and recurring rate are confirmed during the complimentary New Customer Walkthrough.
How does the free first cleanup work?
New residential customers can receive their first standard cleanup at no charge. We will confirm the property and final service plan during the complimentary New Customer Walkthrough and, whenever practical, complete the first cleanup during that same visit. If unusual conditions require work beyond the standard first cleanup, we will explain it and get your approval before doing any additional paid work. See Promotion Terms for eligibility.
Do I need to sign a contract?
No. The Scoop Troop does not require a long-term residential contract. Service is provided under our Terms of Service, which cover billing, access, safety, cancellation, and other important policies.
Is The Scoop Troop insured?
Yes. The Scoop Troop carries appropriate business insurance for the services we provide, giving residential customers and commercial partners added peace of mind.
Why is regular dog-waste removal important?
Regular cleanup keeps your yard cleaner and more enjoyable and helps keep pet waste out of stormwater runoff. Rain can carry bacteria and nutrients from waste into storm drains and local waterways.

Your Service

9 answers
Do I need to be home?
No. As long as we can safely access the service area, you do not need to wait around.
Will I receive an exact appointment time?
We schedule service by day rather than by an exact time. Your Scoop Trooper will text you when they are approximately 60 minutes away.
What areas of my property will you clean?
We clean all agreed-upon areas used by your dogs. This may include the backyard, front yard, side yards, and separately enclosed sections of the property. Your estimate and final service plan account for the total size and layout of the approved service areas. If you later add another area, we will confirm any change to your rate before expanding service.
How do you make sure nothing is missed?
We follow a consistent service process designed for a thorough cleanup every visit. Afterward, we secure the gate, send a gate photo when applicable, and disinfect our equipment before the next property.
What happens if something is missed?
Please let us know within 24 hours. If we reasonably missed waste within your agreed service area, we will return and make it right at no additional charge.
What about loose, runny, or smeared stool?
We remove any waste that can reasonably be collected with our standard scooping equipment. Loose, liquid, sticky, smeared, rubbed-in, or absorbed stool may leave residue that cannot be removed during a normal scooping visit. Standard service does not include washing, scrubbing, or hosing grass, artificial turf, patios, furniture, or other surfaces.
What happens to the waste?
Waste is securely double-bagged and placed in your designated outdoor trash can or commercial dumpster unless your service plan includes offsite removal.
Do you disinfect your equipment?
Yes. We disinfect our tools after every property to help prevent anything from being carried from one yard to another.
How do I know my gate was secured?
When service is complete, your Scoop Trooper will secure the gate and send you a photo for added peace of mind.

Dogs, Access & Yard Conditions

4 answers
Does my dog need to be inside?
Not necessarily. Friendly dogs may be able to remain outside during service. However, if there is any chance your dog may be uncomfortable with a stranger in the yard, please bring them inside before we arrive. For everyone's safety, we cannot enter a yard with a dog that appears aggressive or presents a possible bite risk.
What should I do before my service day?
Please make sure all service areas are accessible, unlock any necessary gates, and provide current gate codes or access instructions. Please also remove objects that could prevent us from safely and thoroughly searching the property.
What happens if you cannot access my property?
If we cannot complete service because of a locked gate, incorrect access code, unsafe dog, obstruction, or another access issue within the customer's control, the scheduled visit may still be charged.
What if my grass is overgrown or the yard is difficult to search?
We will always do our best to provide a thorough cleanup. Tall grass, heavy leaves, standing water, debris, and other obstructions can make waste difficult or unsafe to locate. Service areas must be reasonably maintained and safe to walk. If conditions prevent us from completing the cleanup, the scheduled visit may still be charged.

Billing & Scheduling

6 answers
How does payment work?
Recurring service is billed monthly. When the First Cleanup On Us promotion applies, your first standard cleanup is $0. If additional paid visits remain in your first month, we will clearly show you the prorated first-month amount before activation. Regular monthly billing begins on the first day of the following month.
What happens if the number of dogs in my household changes?
Please let us know whenever you add or lose a dog so we can keep your account accurate. Because pricing may depend partly on the number of dogs, the change may affect your recurring rate. We will always notify you before adjusting your price.
Can I skip or pause service?
Yes. For a single skipped visit, please provide at least 24 hours' notice. A late request may still be charged, and a customer-requested skip does not automatically create a refund or credit because recurring pricing reserves your route position. For a vacation or extended pause, contact us in advance so we can confirm the dates and billing treatment. If waste accumulates during the pause, a restart cleanup charge may apply; any material charge will be disclosed before work begins.
Can I cancel recurring service?
Yes. There is no long-term commitment. Recurring service may be canceled in accordance with the notice requirements in our Terms of Service.
What happens if The Scoop Troop misses a scheduled visit?
We will notify you and make every reasonable effort to complete the service promptly. If we cannot complete the cleanup before your next regularly scheduled visit, we will apply an appropriate credit to your account.
Can weather or holidays change my service day?
Yes. Light or moderate rain usually will not prevent service, but lightning, flooding, severe weather, or other unsafe conditions may cause a delay. Holiday schedules, route balancing, staffing, traffic, or other operational needs may also occasionally require a temporary service-day change. We will notify you in advance whenever reasonably possible.

Initial & Optional Services

4 answers
What if my yard has not been cleaned in a while?
We assess the yard during the New Customer Walkthrough, so you do not need to judge or describe the current accumulation in the online estimate. When the First Cleanup On Us promotion applies, the standard first cleanup needed to begin recurring maintenance is included at no charge. If significant accumulation or unusual conditions require materially more work than the standard first cleanup includes, we will explain the additional work and get your approval before proceeding.
Do you offer one-time cleanups?
Yes. One-time cleanups are available based on location, property conditions, and scheduling availability. Request an estimate so we can review the property and provide accurate pricing.
Do you clean artificial turf?
Yes. Artificial turf can be included in your service plan. Standard service removes solid or reasonably retrievable waste, and turf sanitizing/deodorizing is available as an optional treatment.
Do you offer deodorizing and sanitizing treatments?
Yes. Deodorizing and sanitizing treatments are available as one-time services or recurring additions to your regular cleanup plan. Pricing depends on the size and condition of the area being treated.
